With his “Lost Places”, Sven Fennema takes us to long-forgotten places that were once highly significant in their day.
Fennema knows no boundaries in his search for motifs.
His travels take him to many hidden places across Europe, where he tracks down unique motif treasures.
The current focus of his free works is on forgotten places – abandoned places or buildings that have been robbed of their function.
Fennema tells her stories and captures the ailing motifs in vivid images in a moving world between yesterday and today.
Especially in the cyber age with all its changes, opportunities and dangers, these “lost places” manifest the inevitable transience and the power of time – despite all the digital speed.

The artist
Sven Fennema
Each of his pictures is the result of an examination of a place, its mood, its history.
Fennema forms his pictorial concept from this effect long before he sets up his camera.
His work is characterized by his renunciation of artificial light and the resulting atmospheric play of light.
