The experts at agilimo Consulting implement professional mobility solutions for companies, authorities and organizations on a daily basis. Since June 2019, agilimo has also been supporting a pilot project for digital education at Julius-Echter-Gymnasium in Elsenfeld (JEG). The project shows how digital teaching can be integrated into the daily practice of schools in a meaningful and sustainable way.
After 18 months, the project is entering the next stage of expansion and the first 5th grade will be equipped with the latest generation of Apple tablets. The prompt provision of the new iPads for the school was organized as a joint sponsorship by agilimo, Würth-Leasing and Hifi Extra made possible.
How the “digital school” works
The concept for digital teaching was developed by agilimo and is based on expertise in flexible workplace solutions. For schools, it is particularly characterized by the fact that face-to-face teaching procedures are optimally mapped by the digital processes and at the same time the digital implementation is fully GDPR-compliant.
For content and educational software, agilimo works closely with the school and renowned educational publishers. Accordingly, all student devices are preconfigured exclusively with learning apps relevant to the lessons. Internet access with the student iPad is therefore only possible on approved and lesson-specific web and learning offers. Private surfing is therefore excluded and the school’s WLAN is not overloaded.
The teacher’s device, an iPad 12.9 inch, has free Internet access and serves as a control center. With the iPad, the teacher can control all student devices to suit the lesson – for example, for individual support similar to looking at the exercise book together, or for joint class lessons similar to a blackboard.
In practical terms, agilimo provides the school with an all-round carefree package for digital teaching. This includes the delivery and configuration of iPads & special Pencils as well as the secure commissioning in compliance with teaching and data protection regulations. It also covers the maintenance and any necessary replacement of devices to ensure that lessons run smoothly.
Implementation feasible in a few weeks
As a proof of concept, the “Digital School” pilot shows in concrete terms how schools can safely implement digital teaching in practice and introduce it in the classroom.
“With the “Digital School” project, we can demonstrate in a tangible way that it is not enough to use video conferencing tools. These not only have data protection deficits. They also do not offer teachers sufficient options for designing and managing their lessons. Our concept, on the other hand, offers perspectives and suitable tools on how schools can use digital teaching and learning in a practical, sustainable and meaningful way. For pupils and teachers alike. And also for the school, as implementation is possible within just 1-2 weeks if the iPads are available or already in place.”
Marcus Heinrich, Managing Director of agilimo Consulting GmbH & mobility pioneer.
For the mobility specialists at agilimo, one thing is particularly important when it comes to promoting digital schools: being able to show schools concrete and viable ways to implement and offer them how they can use existing mobile working solutions to meet the requirements of digital education.
